In Doha, the city built environment is fragmented mainly due to two reasons. At first, single buildings have been aggregated by only considering the plot constrains without associate itself with the urban context .There is no integration between the building since the planning of the city has been done based upon a plot by plot approach. Hence, a fragmented built environment is created. Secondly, the built environment planning process does not include the residents inclusion which is vital in order to attain the appropriate enhancement levels. Social well-being are positively influenced by an asset known as social capital \cite{Hamdan_2014}. The neighborhood characteristics are affected by the social capital pattern and the social capital investigation dimension. Research studies are on the rise which is in favor of the social aspects specifically at the neighborhood scale. social capital strongly influence the Local distinctiveness it's the urban form that is additionally supported by its economic and functional organization \cite{Ward_2008}.
over the past hundred years, there has been a drastic development in the socio-economic and physical character of the Neighborhood. For any city, this Neighborhood is a functional unit \cite{Verburg_2004} . As compared to the traditional urban neighborhood, the rapid development in Doha does not include the social capital or unity (Fareej) \cite{Jaidah2010}.The realization process at present is based on the mechanism of profit and real estate priorities. The urban code is lacking and the current regulations upon the urban mega projects do not include a city wide urban strategy. As the Neighborhood is a city’s basic unit \cite{Sharifi_2014}, the purpose of this research is to enhance the design process of the neighborhood and to focus on the Quality of Urban Life (QOUL) and the well-being. The QOUL would function as a method for enhancing the entire quality of life as well as the physical conditions of the Doha's built environment. With the help of the neighborhood, the fragmented urban morphology can be stitched. The current neighborhoods must be altered using a holistic modification as it would allow the urban form to be optimized and the QOUL characteristics to be fostered. The Doha city boundaries would be observed as the central aspect to assess the neighborhood concept. Doha can prove to be a valuable example for the various emerging cities across the world, especially within the GCC region. The present research is vital since it does not only bring forward solutions limited to the Doha local urban areas but can also be used on a regional or international basis.
Without the presence of a comprehensive master plan, it is not possible to make sure that the present and future projects are amalgamated into a single living environment by only establishing gated projects, infills and single villas(\cite{Rizzo_2014}, \cite{Salama_2016}).Hence, there are small isolated islands being formed into the city. A methodology should be introduced that is effective enough to analysis the performance of the neighborhood and implement the local legislation for the Doha neighborhood development. despite having local rating system is used to analyze the sustainability of neighborhoods under construction but there are flaws which are still present. thus, an overall procedure must be present to assess the well-being and performance of the neighborhood. Doha has been subjected to rapid advancements which is why a new methodology is required to manage the current neighborhood progressions. there is a need to conduct a thorough analysis upon the design of the Neighborhood and quality of life retrofit which can help enhance the existing environment ,well-being and happiness. Focus should be maintained upon the social concepts which integrate the neighborhood physical aspects and the inhabitant well-being.
In Doha, the present research is entirely focused upon a singular issues like the gated community quality \cite{AlShawish2016}), walkability index \cite{alasadi2016} , vitality assessment \cite{awwaad2017}. There is no holistic system present and only the neighborhood isolated elements are observed. Hence, a comprehensive procedure should be brought forward which would enhance the quality of the neighborhood after thoroughly recognizing the vital physical characteristics influencing the satisfaction of the inhabitants . Such vital information would help enhance the quality of life at large. Even though various urban research studies have been carried out, Doha has not been able to bring forward an environment which focuses upon enhancing the well-being of the inhabitant through the quality of the neighborhood.
In this research, the hypothesis is that retrofit and enhancement process of the existing neighborhoods will help to integrate the city overall urban fabric .The neighborhood well-being and performance would be analyzed as the objective taking into account selective Doha city neighborhoods. The perceptual design qualities would be quantified using well-being performance indicators for the neighborhood like the physical attributes which are associated with the well-being of the residents. A mixed, qualitative and quantitative approach would be applied to analyze and state the character and qualities of the neighborhood. The set of indicators which assess the satisfaction of the residents within the neighborhood is referred to as perceptual qualities.
.
Conclusion
It is not enough to regenerate derelict urban areas or build new operations in remaining empty plots, but actions to revive existing neighborhoods are also needed to counter urban fragmentation with a position of poorly defined off skirts that are often characterized by compartmentalization of activities . The sustainable built environment is also contributed by the QOL and with the help of the QOL principles the policy makers are assisted as well as guided. The urban quality of life is to be enhanced with the help of the urban planners \cite{Serag_El_Din_2013}. The process which establishes coherence in the urban form by revival of the current neighborhood is referred to as the Neighborhood-Scape.
This study would stress upon the urban design studies carried out in this specific region. The initial step is to analyze aspects appreciated by individuals of their neighborhood and then present a measure which is reliable enough to quantify these qualities. This step would help develop the built environment overall scale. . Government institutions, designers and academics, and urban planners can apply the Neighborhood-scape methodology as a reference guide for their future expansions or enhancements to the current neighborhoods. Furthermore, the research results can be used as reference for developing the regions urban QOL. The overall performance of the neighborhood can be analyzed with the help of the present rating systems (i.e. LEED , GSAS) along with enhancing the intangible and perceptual qualities
The research contribution is a comprehensive methodology to measure well-being performance of existing neighborhood to be utilized as a design guide for urban designers, urban planners and decision makers enhancement of the built environment and retrofitting projects. This methodology is to assess and compare neighborhood well-being in the neighborhood level. This research outcomes can be generalized to other emerging cities in the GCC region and other part of the world that have fragmentation issues in the urban development. Well-being neighborhood performance profiling will help decision-making process in the case of choosing an operational strategy.
