In this paper we are going to discuss inorganic Arsenic and toxicity that results from exposure to inorganic arsenic in drinking water. We will first discuss the presence of arsenic in groundwater, and the metabolism of arsenic once it enters human body and particularly its conversion to MMA3 and the role of MMA3 in causing arsenic induced skin lesions. Arsenic is associated with a nmber of different health effects, most notably the following: arsenic-caused skin lesions, skin cancer, bladder cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer, heart disease (chronic heart failure and acute myocardial infarction), and diabetes. Of the different health effects associated with arsenic, lung and bladder cancers are most commonly reported and we will examine the evidence behind these two forms of tumours. We will also show the results of different studies that are associated with arsenic-caused health effects.
