Dr. Ajai Manglik is a Chief Scientist and Head of Electromagnetic Geophysics Division at CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute. He joined NGRI in 1989 and has served the Institute for more than 33 years. He has worked in the fields of Computational Geodynamics, Tectonophysics, Electromagnetic Geophysics, Near-surface Exploration, Groundwater flow modeling, and Geophysical Inversion. He has significantly contributed in the field of “Computational Geodynamics” through numerical simulation of core and mantle dynamics, regional stress field and lithospheric thermo-rheological processes. His present interests focus on Geodynamics of the Himalaya and foreland Ganga Basin and Near-surface Exploration. He has coordinated and executed several major in-house and sponsored projects of CSIR-NGRI, and collaborated with the Institute of Physics of Earth, Russia and Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, Germany. Dr. Manglik is a recipient of Max Planck Society Fellowship, Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Fellowship, German Academic Exchange (DAAD) Fellowship, National Mineral Award -2008, and Krishnan Gold Medal of Indian Geophysical Union. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences (NASI), India.
